I am getting really sick of reading about celebrity diets in every magazine on the shelf (teen/women magazines). I really don't care anymore that they eat chicken salad for lunch and vegetables and fish for dinner. For the past month probably, every single one of those magazine has had a celebrity and their diet on the cover. The magazines are all competing with eachother like crazy.

Are there any celebrities who aren't like that?

and also, can you think of any magazine which is a good read for a 16/17 year old and isn't about diets every page? I get anxious if I read it. I want something about the world, something worthwhile and interesting to read.

I've had a look but I really can't find much.

I'm voting for checking-out a book or two from the library, too.
There's funny ones. Happy ones. Sad ones. Mysterious ones.
Very deep and thoughtful ones.
I've been an adult for more than just a few decades now; and still like to occasionally "treat myself" to checking-out books with pictures from any of the various sections of the library.
There's books about roof-gardens, dogs, horses, how cathedrals were built, what life was like in the American old west, how to train dogs or birds or horses.
One year; I read every biography of favorite singers, composers, and film stars that I could find. That, too; was very interesting.
Plus, lots of them have...yep, you guessed it....pictures in the books!
There are some really hilarious mysteries by Janet Evanovich that are fresh new stories every time. The fictional characters are a real hoot!!
The lady, Ms. Braun, who writes the "Cat Who..." stories is a clever author also. Oh, you say you are a teenager and want a good magazine....Try "Reader's Digest" or "Guideposts for Teens" or
"National Geographic" or "Smithsonian".

Magazine: Entertainment Weekly. Not only gossipy but funny and they give good recommendations.

Books are always a good option to get your mind off things. The Twilight series was awesome.
Wicked by Gregory Maguire was good.

it probably sounds strange, but try either PC Gamer, The Economist, Business Week, or anything else that seem unrelated. The ones listed will probably interest you in SOME way, and you can most likely find most of them, or similar kinds of magazines at the library for free.

If nothing else, they can only help you in the end, as you will know more about what is going on technologically, which CAN ONLY HELP YOU IN THE LONG RUN!!!

Maxim. Or Mens health. Have you ever read a mens magazine? I accidentally got my neighbors issue in the mail. I read the whole thing before returning it. It's kind of funny...and definitely interesting!

Rolling Stone (iffey about 16/17, but I'm sure they've heard all that'd be in it), Blender (Not for 16/17 because of language...), and W is fabulous, but the articles are hard to read sometimes because it's written for an intelligent audiance. I'm sure it'd be fine though.
