I'm an American and recentally me and my friends have been playing football(soccer) I'm the goalee. I'm good at catching (played American football) but I'm missing something, I can't block the ball fast enough, I didn't realize how fast they kick it. I thought I would ask you english people because your good at football.

You have to keep your eye on the ball at all times. The ball is what is going to score points. Forget all of the others on the field, the ball is what you need to keep your eye on.

There are many different ways you can get tips when playing GK, the striker will give away some clues (some more than other depending on his or her skill level) but some of the main clues to look for is where the striker looks if the striker looks to the left then they are going to shoot most likely to the left. If the striker knows what they are doing they will look to the right and shoot left or vise versa. You can also look by reading the strikers feet and hip. It is easier to show you than to describe it so next time you are playing notice which way their feet/hips move right before they shoot this will usually give away which way they are going to shoot. Sometimes especially on one on one situations the best thing you can do is charge the striker and try and get big. You also want to try to get the ball of their feet in between their strides. Also in one on one situations it is important to stay on your toes so that you can react faster.

Hope some of this helps!
