Let me just start off by saying I struggle with making "major purchase" decisions... and this is a "major purchase" for me. You'll see why if you decide to read on.

Also, I say MP3 player below but I'm just using the term MP3 player because it is what I have now. I am open to an IPOD, I consider the terms interchangeable, however understand the difference.

As noted, I need to replace my current MP3 player because it has worn out from overuse. Before you suggest one, please note:
* I would use an MP3 player just for listening to music, not watching any sort of podcasts or anything.
* I need something around an 8 GB size

With that said, I am replacing one of the first DELL MP3 DJ's that to my knowledge, they don't sell anymore.

Please tell me your what MP3/IPOD players you've had luck with, how long you've owned it, what size (GB) it is if you know. I prefer answers from people who use their MP3 players at least 3 times or more a week because I use mine just as much, if not more, and I would also prefer answers from people who have owned their MP3 players for more than 6 months so I can try to judge (or feel free to tell me about) the reliability of the brand.

Trying to make these types of decisions keeps me awake at night... For me, music gets me through life so I need something I can count on... and I don't want to pay for garbage, especially in these times.

Thanks for your help.
