I have a 13yr old daughter who back talks, refuses to do chores, argues with her siblings telling them they are stupid, fags, etc...., absolutely disrespects my husband ( her step-dad) she tells him to shut up, tells him he does nothing for her on & on. I have grounded her from everything her cell phone, computer, the home phone. She does not care. Just last weekend I noticed she had took it upon herself to make a myspace after I have told her NO several times. Any advise would be great
When she wants something she is a very good kid! The moment we tell her no she slams doors mumbles under her breath, cries, etc.. My husband is a police officer and she still acts a fool

I am a divorced and single dad raising two kids. One 12 boy and one 18 girl.
She is obvously acting out harshly because you are not giving her what she wants. All kids want your time and attention. When a teen gets this way, you must clear your schedule and become their parent, friend, and mentor, etc. Become more involved with her. Her behaviors are already set in motion as she is not a child anymore.
Likely, she doesn't really hate the new step-dad, however, ultimately, you must realize that all kids want is their 'real' parents love, affection, approval, attention, etc.
She thinks that you are stupid because you aren't being a parent.
Put down the phones, texting, emails and do this stuff on a regular basis:
1. Start exercising with your kids. Go for a bike ride, or a serious power walk, swim, gym or other stuff.
2. Take your kids bowling
3. Read to them and talk about current events
4. Have a family game night (we have occasional game nights with friends too....fun, fun.)
5. Get involved in some sort of community service, soup kitchen, food pantry, church or anything to give back.
6. Encourage your teens opinion don't just shut them out. They are an extension of yourself and a reflection of who you are today, tomorrow, and who you want to be.
7. Have an outrageous kids cook/bake challenging dinner family night
All of these things can help you get closer to your daughter and let her know that there is WAY more important stuff in life than spacebook, and myface.
