needing iphone help!?

Im thinking of buying an iphone with some of my birthday money. Some people have told me that it is an amazing phone and that I should buy it. Others have told me that it is a waste of money...
Some reviews I have read have been quite good and others haven't!
Also if I am going to buy the iphone, should I in the 8GB or the 16GB? People have told me that 8GB is plenty, but I think that I should buy the 16GB just to be on the safe side...
 
It depends if your going to hold plenty of music and a bunch of apps. It all depends on what you are using it for. For example, if you have a 6 gig library like I do, your going to want to get the 16 gig.
