Neighbor is screaming obscenities outside working on car?

I have a 3 year old and my neighbor is outside screaming 10 mins now F this and mother f'er. I had to bring her inside should I call police? Isn't this disturbing the peace?
Im not approaching an angry screaming man with big tools in his hands.

As others have said, you can call the police because you've got a legimate complaint.

If you don't want to go that route, how about waiting a day (or some other time when he's not in the throes of trying to fix his car) and say something like, hey, I know it can be a real pain in the neck fixing a car, but I've got a little one who just LOVES to say things she/he hears. Could you next time maybe tone it down a little with the language? I'd really appreciate it.

I think that if you're low key and he's not in the middle of a situation that's obviously frustrating/angering him, he should be reasonable.
