Neighbor wants me to move his truck? how do I park it?

my neighbor has a 1988 chevy s10 (manual transmission) that he wants me to move for him.
I was taught how to drive a stick many years ago (on a car) and I don't remember the proper way to park them. Do you put it into gear and then pull the e-brake before leaving it? does the 88 model even have an e-brake? it must right?

the neighbor's on vacation and I don't want to disturb him that's why im asking.

Just to clear things up, I can drive a stick...i'm just saying i've never done so on a truck.
The last time I used a standard was in my dads 06 mini cooper S two summers ago.
I just don't drive one consistently enough to feel super comfortable you know?

Yes, when you park it you should leave it in gear, (the lower the gear the better) and apply the emergency brake.

A trick to remember is you always point the gear leaver to the top of the hill, so if the front of the car is facing up hill you move the gear to first, if its facing down hill you point it up hill (reverse)

Also, it is recommended to put the handbrake on first so the e-brake is holding the car not the transmission. If you put the car in gear before the e brake and let go off the break the car wont budge because the transmission is holding the car which isn't good in the long run. If you do it the other way the car will roll back usually a couple of inches before the e-brake holds.

The only problem with that is you may have an old car and the e-brake is too lose and wont hold the car, not your car so put it in gear first then handbrake.

drive the truck to the location you want. if the truck is facing up hill shift it into first gear and engage the emergency brake, while the clutch is still in turn off the engine, you can now release the clutch. if the truck is facing down hill it is the same procedure except you shift it into reverse.

I wouldn't try to move the car if you don't know stick shift.

Hold clutch, turn on swtich/engine, place in 1st, remove ebrake, let go of the clutch slowly as you press down the accelerator. You shouldn't pass 1st gear to move the car.
