You can lays get off the boat and go somewhere on your own. Especially if you're just going shopping or to the beach for the day . Take an excursion when you don't feel comfortable arraigning things by yourself or, I just easier or safer to do one if the ships activities . This is good especially if you're worried about being late. Excursions are almost always more expensive , but they take the responsibility for getting you back to the ship safely and in time. If you are late , they will generally hold the ship for you  But you do not have to book an excursion just to go off an island ., in places that you're only interested in just going "downtown and the beach"</blockquote>
