I'm planning a vacation to Hawaii this summer (honeymoon). I was considering applying for the Alaska Airlines Visa card before hand to get the $99 companion discount and 25,000 miles (possible use for upgrade).
I currently have 2 credit cards and never keep a balance. Is it worth getting the card to use on the current $550 ticket? The card has a $75 annual fee and I wouldn't intend to use it much after wards as Alaska is not a prominent airline in Detroit and I already have a Delta card.
Thanks for your input.
Sorry I was still waking up when I wrote the above question so it wasn't clear.
Ticket to Maui = $550.
Alaska Airlines Visa gives you a $99 companion ticket for signing up for the card and one each year you renew. I was considering signing up to use the companion ticket for my fiance so I pay $99+tax instead of $550.
Additional information: The $550 was only one leg of our two leg flight. Now I see an Alaskan Airlines flight that covers both legs and is $971. Does this change your opinion ($99+tax companion ticket to cover $971 ticket)?
