I have recently traveled to Perth to apply for a new 12 month multy entry type "O" visa, only to find the Thai consulate closed and that all visa applications from west Australia now go via the thai embassy in Canberra. The person I rang in Canberra tells me i can no longer apply for a 12 month visa costing $225 .00 as before but would get a 90 day visa and that I could get an extension in Thailand, also that I no longer had to do visa runs. I find this a little hard to believe as I never heard of it before except for people with a retiree visa. The other new thing different to Perth is that as well as a marriage certificate I have to have a letter from my wife stating who she and her relationship to me,as well as a copy of her I D and a copy of the house papers. Apparently Perth had not been doing things right and that was the reason they where closed down. Any body know any thing about this ?
