I've started serious jogging since three days.(half an hour medium pace)
here's the problem - since the third day, as soon as I start running, my legs feel knotty and mild cramps.
I run first thing in the morning, after a very little warmups.

Could you please tell me what to do?
Should I stop exercise till it stops paining?

thanks

Hi,
Try not to run every day, and remember you need to warm up and stretch a little before you start running. Perhaps before you start, in the house warm up your legs with some lunges and hamstring stretches, jog on the spot - just get a little warmer. Go a fast walk when you go outside and build that up to a gradual medium pace jog.

Once you have finished STRETCH. It is so important, that could be the big issue here. Make sure you do calf stretches, ham strings, quads, and inner thigh. Google stretches for running - that'll help.

Perhaps give yourself a couple of days off for your legs to feel better, but keep stretching them each day - that should help.

First of all, congratulations on starting to run! It was my first year last year and it becomes so much fun! I had the same problem like you with side cramps and that feeling with my legs. It is good that you are working on endurance and just going for long runs everyday. What I would suggest is to stretch for at a minimum of seven minutes everyday right after your run and as for the cramps, I know it sounds really hard and at the beginning it is, but just run through them. Try not to drink as much water while/before your run and it also helps to either sings or talk while you're running and that prevents them. It works your diaphragm to use your vocal chords, so that is what worked for me. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
