While using a car to advertise a sports outfitter isn't anything new (the Puma Ferrari below for instance), Nike's new giant urban assault vehicle is rather unique. A 1959 amphibious assault truck was modified by the people at Hub Strategy for the Nike to tackle the Mountain Dew's Action Sports Tour.
Nat Kidder and Dan Phillips were the ones who developed the basic concept and worked with D.J. O'Neil and a team under design director Peter Judd. The vehicle was selected from twenty other designs that Hub Strategy dreamed up and all modifications were finished in just two weeks.
The vehicle, while lacking its original weapons, comes with an array of accessories including a skate ramp, wakeboard tower, surf racks, skateboard rails, and BMX racks. Sports equipment aside, it also features a barbecue, sleep-in camper shell, a waterproof CD player, radio and remote control for an iPod. No report on whether or not it makes Mountain Dew taste any better.
