No voices coming out of headphones.?

On my Acer Aspire laptop when I plug headphones in no voices come through on songs, games, or movies but most of the other audio comes through fine. If I putpressure on the headphone plug that fixes the problem but I can't hold the plug and play a game at the same time. I have tried many sets of headphones and speakers and it does it with all of them. The sound comes through my built-in speakers fine as well but I can't use those when my girlfriend is asleep because it will wake her up.
