I am sure the sim card is inserted correctly. The phone switches on but doesn't get a signal.MY SIM card works perfectly in other phones though.Yes it is locked to a different network. How can I change it?

there's something wrong with ur sim card.switch off first, take out the sim card then insert it carefully n switch it back.if there's no signal n "inactive" is shown,u off it again n switch it back ur phone until u can see the signal.good luck.

if it works in other phones, or is the phone locked to a different network.if same network maybe the antenna/ aerial isnt working properly or broken. Try factory reset too

it may be that the n95 is a 3g model which needs to be unlocked to your network, which may not be compatable with your older sim, Unclocking the handset will open you up to vaious different networks and allow you interchange sim-cards with, o2, orange, t-mobile etc..But the unlocking isuue might not be the problem unless the sim and phone were purchased seperately, if both these items came as part of a bundle then, either the sim or the handset may be faulty, so best to return to the retailer so they can rectify the issue at hand, as fiddling with repairs yourself may invalidate your warranty and leave you a few quid out of pocket, hope this helps

Some networks need the phone's unique identifier number called and IMEI number to be recorded onto their system before it is allowed to connect to the network as an extra security measure to prevent stolen phones from being used on the network. This does not mean your handset is stolen, networks often block handsets when contracts end or do not allow brand new handsets onto the network until registered. While the SIM card is active on your providers network the phone has either been deactivated or is not registered to your providers network. You need to contact your mobile phone network and ask them to activate the phone. They will require the IMEI number of the phone which can be found on a label in the battery compartment or by switching the phone on and dialling *#06# on the keypad which will bring it up on the screen. The phone may take several hours to activate depending on how busy your particular mobile network is at the time.

check that the phone is not in offline mode, turn it off and on and if it says 'continue in offline mode' press no!

ah 1 of the many hundreds of problems with the n95 thats y my n95 8gb is at the bottom of my draw gathering dust while my n82 and k850 sleep comfortable in my pockets

If your phone is locked to different Network, then you need to get your phone unlocked in order to use with any other sim card into your phone. You can get your Nokia N95 phone unlocked from Network lock using unlock code. Unlock code is the best and safest way to unlock phone. You can get such codes from your Network service provider or any third party online vendors like Unlocking4U.com here you need to specify your country, Network name to which it is locked, IMEI number of your phone. Then they deliver unlock code to you through mail with unlocking instructions. Using this you can unlock your phone from Network lock easily.
