Nutrition-Wise, when to eat what? protein, carbs, etc.?

I am confused. I would like to eat a balanced diet. But when should I eat what? Carbs for breakfast for energy? But I am so confused about dinner. Should I have mostly protein? But won't my digestion be working overtime all night to digest the protein? (Ps sorry for details but I have terrible ...er...elimination problems so I really need help figuring what to eat at night to keep me regular too) please help!

20% fats. 40% carbs. 40% protein is what you need during the day. min. of 1500 calories. fruits and veggies. lots of water. three to five medium/small meals. don,t eat before bed. no soda.
