While we all knew it was coming, it’s now official: Steve Nash has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. The two-time MVP will receive a $27 million contract over three years, while the Phoenix Suns will receive four draft picks from the Lakers.
Even though Nash is 38 years old, he was still a great player last season. He averaged 12.5 points, 10.7 assists and three rebounds while shooting 53.2% from the field, 39% from three-point land and 89.4% from the free throw line.
In Nash, the Lakers get the best point guard they’ve had in a long, long time. L.A. hopes that Nash is able to help Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum co-exist.
As for the Suns, they’ll get two first round draft picks and two second round draft picks as part of this sign-and-trade deal.
