...future in ufc and need advice? and ive won lots of gold medals in local shotokan tornaments and mixed martial arts tornaments i weigh 150 pounds and can bench 180. i can hit pretty hard and i would like a future in the ufc andn i would like to know if i would have a chance?

Karate is crap. The only person who can pull of doing karate in MMA/UFC is Lyoto Machida. But he mixes karate with Muay Thai and BJJ so its different. Yeah you have a chance if you change ur style, or add another style. But its quite hard to get in UFC considering its one of the bigger orgnizations. So maybe try going for smaller orgnaizations like most of the UFC fighters did. Then if someone in UFC notices something good about you they will sign you up

If you think you have what it takes you can always try out for the TUF tryouts. You will def need to learn some ground skills to add to your game.GL.I do however have doubts about your mental toughness as you felt the need to come on a website and ask strangers who don't know you if your good enough. You have to have the mental game aswell as the physical game if you ever wish to make it as a prizefighter.GL.Also shotokan point sparring and MMA cagefighting are 2 totally different realms.

@Brock you do realize almost every top fighter to ever hold a title in MMA history has a karate background right?Or are you just ignorant.GSP-kyokushin karate black belt,Chuck Liddell-Kempo black belt,Lyota Machido-Shotokan black belt,Ben Henderson-Taekwondo black belt(ok so it's not karate sue me)Bas Rutten-kyokushin black belt. The list goes on.

Shotokan - or even karate - and UFC are actually very different. If you really want to do UFC I reccomend trying one of the martial arts it was based on - especially Judo or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Good luck!

karate is not crap in MMA. Karate is not used in MMA very often.UFC has not ever put a master karate fighter in it. in the early ufc events the odds where stacked in favor of the Gracie's. true masters of there arts all the karate and stand up fighter where second rate.I did not see don the dragon in there or benny the jet or even the Grand champion yokozuna of the 90's in there.mike tyson was not there. If you are not scared to defy what you see in the ufc. you have a chance.check out genki sudo a unorthodox fighter

in all fairness to brock most of those fighters do not use there karate very often to win.

12 (T)KOs ( 42.86 %)
13 Submissions ( 46.43 %)
3 Decisions ( 10.71 (more submissions then knock outs)

chuck is the only one that defys that rule.his ability to stay on his feet is a rare skill but he uses his wrestling to do that.

Gsp has more knock out by 3 but has almost as many deceisions as he has in knockout 8-7

tank abbot is a true display that grappling is not the end all of fighting
6 (T)KOs ( 60 %)
3 Submissions ( 30 %) (all but 1 do to striking)
1 Decisions ( 10 %)
