Someone broke into my car the other day and stole a bunch of my stuff. No windows were broken and I couldn't figure out how they got in. And there was no way I forgot to lock my car because I live in a big city and sometimes triple lock it because I'm paranoid. Anyway, I decided to test the doors and found out that the rear passenger side door doesn't lock when I use my remote lock thing OR when I do it manually from the inside. When you open it after you hit lock on the remote the alarm goes off if the door is open. The car is a 2002 Saturn SL1. What could be wrong and how much would it cost to fix it? What should I do until I can fix it? Is there a way I can just permanently lock the door? I never use it anyway.

Thanks!

hmm the only way you can see whats wrong is to take off the whol panel...the locking mechanism is probably off..they are connected like pins with holes and a piece of metal that goes through them to keep them in place it might be off...if you want to permanantly lock it put the child safety switch on it so the only way you can open it from the outside but keep the locking mechanism off so it cant open

It sounds like either the rod came loose from the lock inside the door or the plastic clip that holds it to the lock broke.

the door actuator is shot you would have to take the door apart to manually lock it until you can get it fix
