I am helping a friend put in a 1.8 opel engine in a 1989 opel monza. Can anyone please tell me how to set up the ignition timing?

Quite urgent. Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanx

I think that it uses electronic ignition, so you will need a timing light to set it up petfectly,, and I think that you need to look for timing marks on front engine pulley,( if you cant find, then maybe they are on the flywheel, you need to remove a small steel plate) but, just to set it up roughly to run initially then there is a small mark on the distributor where the cap actually seats, you need the cap off to see it, just have your rotor arm pointing to this mark when your number one cylinder is on top dead centre, it should run and then you will need the strobe light( timing light) to set it up properly.
