P90X nutrition plan, help me please?

Im 18, ordered P90X, and I fall into the level 2 nutrition. Now the thing is, I'd like to use the portions plan, but it makes no sense to me. How do you follow it? And then what the most confusing, is how it says that each food listed is a certain amount of calories, when there are ones that I know for a fact arnt accurate, for instance, the carbs listed you can choose from, it says a cup of oatmeal is 200 calories, when I know for a fact, dont ask how, it would be more. Can someone please explain and help me get on the right track.
