Pantech matrix with rogers/fido in Canada?

If you buy it in the US, all you would have to do is get it unlocked, then you would be able to use it with rogers or fido.
 
If i were to buy a Pantech matrix in the US without a plan, what are the steps would have to follow to be able to use it with rogers/fido as my service provider in Canada?
