Ive spent a huge amount of money on my first gaming pc, all was fine until recently. Basically whenever i boot up my pc, it switches itself off whilst loading the OS (vista home premium), , i dont mean shutting down properly, it just turns off as if the plug has been pulled from the wall, its not a power issue though as ive noticed the l.e.d. on my external hard drive remains illuminated at all times. and my usb devices remain powered. I recently removed the graphics card (radeon hd3850) and the problem went away, I know all signs point to a faulty gpu i just need to make sure before i purchase a new one, its either the graphics card, the power supply unit. or maybe a bad driver??? Also the problem only occurs when i leave my pc off for a day or two which is really odd.
