Here’s the question:

“You set up one pendulum and one mass-spring systems in a room. They are located just below a vent. The air blows downward and produces a force F on the masses. How would the periods and/or equilibrium positions of the pendulum and the spring-mass system differ from their values when the vent is closed (without air blowing on them)? Both the string of the pendulum and the spring have negligible masses.”

I want to be able to explain this, but a little bit more fleshed out. So I need some help. It’s for a practice quiz my instructor assigned as a quiz the last time he had taught the class.

I think the period would stay the same for both the systems, but I’m not sure exactly. Can someone help me out a little?
