A 1670 kg car is traveling with a speed of 15.0 m/s. What is the magnitude of the horizontal net force that is required to bring the car to a halt in a distance of 46.0 m?

While moving the car has kinetic energy. Work is needed to be done to stop the car. work = Fdcos[theta]. You're given d and kinetic energy, so all you do is to solve for F. Fd = .5mv^2F * 46.0 = .5(1670)(15)^2F = 4080N
