A bro hug in 2011 isn’t a big deal. That is, unless the hug is between Jim Hendry and Albert Pujols. Why? Jim Hendry is the general manager of the Chicago Cubs, while Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals is a free agent after the 2011 baseball season. The hug has Cardinals fans screaming tampering and Cubs fans fantasizing about signing baseball’s best player.
Was it an innocent hug? I don’t think so. Jim Hendry hugging Albert Pujols ain’t no accident. He’s on the hot seat as the GM of the Cubs. He needs something big to save his job. Signing Albert Pujols this coming offseason would definitely classify as something big.
As for Albert Pujols, befriending the Cubs would put even more pressure on the Cardinals to open their purse strings. If he signed with the Cubs, the Cardinals franchise may never recover.
