I'm 15 and have a small saturday job. I don't earn much, but its enough to pay for things i'd like. I earn about £80 a month, and I save £20 of it. I'd like to buy chinchillas, but my dad refuses. When i ask him why, he replys that its 'his house and his rules'. That may be true, but i don't think i'm being unreasonable. I'm not expecting him to pay for the cage etc. I'm quite happy buying everything it needs with my savings. My mum doesn't have a problem with this. She says it is my money and i can spend it how i choose. She's not worried about me getting bored or not caring for it, as i am responsible with my dog, and we used to have degu's, hamsters, gerbils, ferrets, that kind of thing, and i never sheltered away from the responsibilty of being a pet owner. I've also been researching information about the chinchilla, and i feel i am well informed and responsible enough to get one. My auntie owns 2 chinchillas, and says she'll help me if any problems arise and point me in the right direction. So, what should i do? Should i respect my dads wishes, and not buy a chinchilla while i live under his roof? Or should i tell him its my money and i can do what i please with it?
