Ok, so the other night, I was on my back porch looking at the moon. And my mom said she was seeing a double image, kinda like the moon, plus a blurred image of the moon directly on top. She tried covering both eyes individually, and still saw the double image.
So I tried to recreate this problem.
I stared directly at the roof of the house with my eyes pointing towards the moon. And I wasnt seeing the double image. So I tilted my head up about two inches, and voila', I see the double moon.
I know this is some little trick dealing with the angle of the light reflecting off of the lens in our eyes. but is there some other explanation more in depth of why this happens?
