want us fat and unhealthy? Not that I am fat or unhealthy. But doesn't it seem like doctors spend more time making themselves rich than they do trying to keep people healthy in the first place?

If a civil engineer or an architect or a ditch digger behaved like a physician, they would charge us a fee every time we used that pipe or every time we entered that building, or every time we stepped over that ditch (even though that ditch was filled back in 50 years ago, buy hey, the ditch used to be there, so pay up, jack)

Let me just let you know that doctors don't keep patients sick, the patients keep themselves sick. i work in a medical office and let me just say my doctor still shops at the dollar store. We do everything to get people well and prevent them from getting sick and well patients are stubborn and refuse to follow doctors orders, thinking they know best and maybe if they ignore the problem long enough some how magically it'll just go away.

your confusing correlation with causation. just because a greater profit can be obtained by keeping people sick, dosn't mean that a medical profession that has a high profit is keeping people sick. also this is an adhomeniem circumstantial fallacy, your suggesting that the medical profession as a whole is guilty of creating the current situation, simply because they would stand to benefit from the current situation.

I think you have this a bit backwards. The primary care physician's office is open to appointments. It's fine with him if a large number of the appointments are for consultations about preventive care, but healthy people don't call and make appointments nearly so often as sick people do.

Because of course so many doctors are encouraging their patients to sit on their fat asses and pork out on pizza and ice cream. Exercise just gives you bad knees. And they keep encouraging their patients to smoke more cigarettes--and if they can't do that, they should chew tobacco. And vaccinations for kids? Forget about it. Those MMR shots just make your kids autistic.

Yeah, doctors are totally against preventive medicine....

Does the world you live in exist for anyone else?
