Problem with Acer Extensa 5420 - Won't Shut Down?

My friend has an Acer Extensa 5420. When she shuts it down, it shuts down for a couple seconds but then starts up again. I thought it might be the operating system, but she brought it to our school's tech center and they said nothing for wrong with the computer and the operating system was fine (because when they looked at it it also decided to start shutting down properly). The computer, however, is still doing the same thing, any ideas of what it could be or what we could do? Thanks!

Could be an issue with the power button, did she spill anything on it? If it's a laptop, there's usually a circuit board that controls the computer power on function when the power button is pressed.

Barring her spilling anything on it, my first thought would still be operating system though.

I am afraid that a malicious virus has penetrated into the bot sector of your friend's computer. Do you have antivirus software installed in your friend's laptop? Please do scan all the files and see if there is a hidden malware. Turn off your system restore feature too.
