When I used to search for directions, it would automatically have my current location as the starting point. I think since my phone updated (android version 4.1.2) the starting point is blank, and even if I type in "my location" it doesn't seem to be able to find me and give me directions from exactly where I am. How do I fix this? It's very irritating, since a lot of the time, I'm looking for directions while I'm already out and obviously can't know the exact address of where I am.

I think that is the default setting. In iOS version it also shows "current location" as the default starting point for directions. It's pretty useful especially if your planning to drive somewhere.
