Programming my dish network remote to my new tv...?

We bought a new tv, a 32" flat screen, nothing fancy just the plain Jane model, how do I program my remote for my dish to correspond to my tv so I don't have so many remotes laying around?? I found on the dish website the codes but none seemed to work?! Any ideas??

**I have the dvr with the platinum remote**
