My baby was 8lbs 8oz at birth he is both breast and formula mostly breast fed he now weighs almost 14lbs hes going to be 3 months on sept 10th hes teething already and when i give him the tablets he opens his mouth for my finger and swallows, he smiles, coos, has been sitting with help for awhile now, i was just woundering what would be a proper age to introduce cereal to him? Thanks everyone
It seems like nothing is satisfying him though

6 months is the recommended age for introducing rice cereal.

If he seems like 'nothing is satisfying him' then it might be because he is about to have a growth spurt (one usually occurs around 3 months) and he needs more energy for the growth spurt. Congrats on breast feeding him. He is demanding more milk because he is trying to make your breasts produce more milk. Keep feeding him when he demands it, and don't worry, he is getting enough as he is obviously growing and developing well. He will be more settled in a few days when the growth spurt has finished. Wait a few more months before you introduce rice cereal and it'll be easier for both of you - he will be ready for it so it will be easier to feed it to him.

I started my daughter on rice cereal at 3 months,.. formula just wasnt cutting it for her ne more! she was 9lbs 4 oz at birth,,! EVery baby is different and i most definetely do not go by the book.. you will know whats best :) gradually introduce him to it.. his poops will be hard but thats bc he is eating solids.. just give him some sugar water and that should loosen up his stool :) Good luck!

Like the first poster suggests, the Health Dept says 6 months. If he is still thriving on milk then there is no need to introduce solids yet. If however he was loosing weight then I would check with your doctor first. In the end he is your baby and moms usually know best but I would refrain from introducing rice cereal into his diet until he is at least 4 months.

Yea doctors will tell u to wait until 6 months or so. I started my oldest on cereal when she was about 3 1/2 months and she turned perfectly fine.... Im planning on doing the same with my lil boy. Talk to ur baby's doctor about it

Ideally much closer to 6 months. If he's still happy and thriving on milk, keep it that way as long as possible.
