I got a 78 chevy scottsdale 4x4 with a 350 engine in it. It needs a rebuild, Im wanting to just pull the engine itself out, I don't want to pull the engine and the transmission together. I know I have to disconnect the motor mounts from the engine etc. But I only see 4 bolts from the tranny to the engine, thats all I have to undo right? To be able to pull the engine? Also, do I have to have support under the tranny when pulling out the 4 bolts from the tranny to the engine? Or can I just pull the engine and not even worry about the tranny falling without any support for the tranny? Whats the proper method. And just so that you know pulling the engine and tranny together is not an option. I just want to know if I need to support or not and all the info you can provide would be helpful.
