I am planning on getting a truck in the next 6 months. I have never put my dog in the back of a truck. I am fairly certain if I did she would jump out. So I was wondering about tying a leash on her. I don't like the idea though. It scares me. What I'd I crashed? She wouldn't be able to jump out and that worries me but if there are only two seats and my girlfriend sits in it there would be nowhere for my dog. Any ideas?

illegal in my state, unless the dog was in a dog carrier. I guess, you could always get a truck topper (Makes it a bit more like an suv but not as sturdy of course) for your new truck so it would at least be an enclosed area for your dog! just a thought! still the dog should be secured!

My mother is a vet and each time she sees someone with a dog in the back she gets so mad! You really shouldn't do that the dog could choke on the leash or it could jump out! If its a small dog then it can sit with your girlfriend or if its a big dog leave it home ( you can try to see if your girlfriend will let a big dog sit on her lap but make shure to bring flowers just incase she gets mad :) ) hope i healped!

When I first put my dog in the back of my truck, I rode back there with him just down our road and back to see how he would react. I did this a couple times so he would get used to it. Eventually, he got to where he would sit or lay down in the bed. I never put a leash on him though becuase I worry about hitting the breaks too hard or wrecking and choking him. Hope this helps.

test it out first to make sure she doesnt jump out, then if she does i would think about the leash idea maybe.
