I have a female cat who is about 2-3 years old who I got from a rescue place. I have no idea what her life was like before hand, all I know is that she lived with around 30 other cats and dogs. She's friendly, a little shy and very independent, but one thing that strikes me as odd as that she never jumps on the couch, bed, chair, or anything! Sometimes it looks like she wants to come lay on the bed or couch, but then she gets this look about her and just plops down on the floor. It is alright for her to get up onto the couch or bed, I don't mind. How do I let her know that it is alright to do this? It seems like she may have not been allowed on furniture in her past home. I can tell that she would really like to sleep on something other than the floor, and a cat bed won't work. Whenever I put her on the couch, she jumps down immediately. If you have any suggestions on how I could let her know that it is alright to do this, please help!
