queston about the pill and breakthrough bleeding. please help?

my pill is very low dose so when i tried to skip my period i got break through bleeding, ive been bleeding for about three weeks really lightly. Is this normal? also in a cpouple of days my active pill will run out and i start on the white pills, will i get my period during this time even though i have been bleeding for 2/3 weeks?

please help
