Hello,
I would maybe like to include some quotes on a series of Greeting Cards that I want to design and sell on my web site. The quotes could be from historical figures, recently passed away people or living people. Do I have to ask anyone's permission to do this? Especially if I actually credit them in the quote? If the person is long dead, I guess not, but can a family estate of maybe a recently passed away person have any claim on me? If I quote someone from an interview situation, maybe something I found interesting or profound, do they have any copyright rights to what they said?
My creativity is being hindered out of fear that someone will sue me one day.
