My family and I want to go on vacation in Paris. We used this website (www.homelidays.com). We found a place we like and we found it's available for the period we want.
The owner says that we have to make a down-payment (by wire transfer) and when we arrive, we have to pay a caution, or a guarantee of 500euros. Before we leave the owner will inspect the place, and in case there is damage, we will pay for it. Otherwise we will get the money back.
We have never done this before. Is it safe to rent place this way? Can we trust the owner , even though we don't know them personally?
