I have a 1998 Volvo S70 and the cap on the dipstick broke off. I know Volvo had a problem with this and came out with a replacement dipstick and tube. First, how do I know if I have the old or new version of the dipstick and tube? Second, if I have the old version and wish to replace it with the newer version, do I have to drain the oil to replace the tube? I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the cost of a new tube and the hassle of draining the oil as there's no leaking, the cap still fits, and the dipstick can be easily pulled out with pliers.
