there are countries in our world going through poverty, natural disasters, etc. as human beings we are encouraged to help the less fortunate. we donate, we volunteer, we actually make a difference.
and then there are religious people who think they are helping by praying for them.
Really?
For example, Red cross is an organisation that assists countries in need by raising money through donations and charity events. what does the church do? they pray. yup, thats it. and when the disaster is over and most things are back to normal most religious people go "yay i made a difference, my prayers were answered, i helped" or some BS like that. What is wrong with you people? your not actually helping!!!
another example. Say if someone in hospital is being treated for cancer. the doctors and nurses work day and night to treat the patient. after the treatment and the hard effort of the hospital staff the patient recovers and people say "god answered my prayers, thank god they are /i am alive" (im not kidding, this actually happens). do you think god actually did something? was it the nonsense babbling of a sick person or the scientifically engineered medicine that made them recover?
comments and opinions please. no nonsense "god did it" responses because they really dont help.
i understand that they may do it to show they care (sorta) but really, stop acting like you actually did something.
