Roaming while on vacation with T-mobile?

I live in Texas and will being to northern California for vacation and I want to be able to text my boyfriend but im afraid the only way to get signal to text him is by roaming(i have unlimited texting). I was wondering would i be charged.
if someone has a link i can go to get the information or if i should just call to find out just someone tell me for experience or whatever.
 
All T-Mobile plans include free domestic roaming. What makes you think you won't have T-Mobile service where you're going? T-Mobile is a nationwide company. Roaming only occurs when you go to an area outside of the carrier's coverage. Nearly all of T-Mobile's plans include free roaming.

Just go to their website, look up your plan and check under the list of services.
