The anime had these kids using these spin tops to drawn/engrave a type of circular crest on the ground and it would summon a robot which would come up from the crest initially as a huge robot head, and then the robotic head would transform into a type of elemental robot and then the user of the spin tops would enter the robots and fight each other.
