Wondering what the thoughts are on making this commute on a regular basis. Job would be in Buffalo Grove but would rather live in the city. For an 8 - 5 job how do you bad do you think it would be?

Awful. 90/94 is terrible at those times of day, as are the city streets in Chicago. Rogers Park is nowhere close to the highway unless you want to go all the way downtown and back up North again, which could be more than an hour and a half at those times of day. 90/94 goes right through Logan Square, but again, you have to deal with heavy traffic, and there are bad parts of the Logan Square neighborhood I wouldn't recommend moving to. Suck it up and live in the suburbs

It depends on the weather. Most people are heading into the city, so it wouldn't be as bad as the reverse commute, but it wouldn't be a great commute. I wouldn't do it because parking sucks in the city and everything is overpriced.

I agree with John (+1 to you buddy)...find a place in Lake County or suburban Cook County, where things are a lot cheaper, less hectic, and less cliche. Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Palatine, Arlington Heights, Libertyville, Mundelein, Lake Zurich, and Barrington have mini downtown areas that are pretty nice.

Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Palatine, and Arlington Heights are not too far from a few EL stops, so you have easy access to the city.
