Rogers, Telus, Fido and Bell customers...?

Can you have a phone with one of these phone companies without being on a three year term? I just got off a 3 year term with Rogers and I want to get a new blackberry but not on a 3 year term, I realize I'd probably have to buy a phone rom them for like 400 dollars but I wouldn't mind as long as I'm not on a term agreement. I do however still want data, so I can continue using BBM.
 
Some carriers let you get only a 1 year contract which would only be 10 and a half months because in the US for two year contacts its 21 months so divided by two you get that
