Saddle scratch/polish help?

i recently scratched my saddle. I took some advice and used leather polish to try and hide the scratch. It turned out very nice, but you can still see the scratch. If i add more polish, will it make the spot look blotchy and stand out from the rest of the saddle?
I'd rather not use it on the whole saddle. Also, what might happen to that spot if i were to oil the whole thing?
 
Depending on the saddle, english or western, and the quality of the leather. Some scratches are deep and there's just not much to do. If it's like an abrasion treating it with leather cleaner and like colored polish. Remember it's a skin, without the benefit of blood flow to heal it so it's going to be scarred. My faithful roping saddle still has a scar from a steer 20 + yrs. ago, it's just life and leather.
