Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Friday became the third Republican senator to announce her support for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, the AP/MSNBC reports. In a statement, Collins praised Kagan's "intellect, experience, temperament and integrity" and said Kagan deserves confirmation based on her record, her promise to stick to legal precedents and her character (Hirschfeld Davis, AP/MSNBC, 7/23).
