I have come across a lot of independent artist music video but the quality of the video does not seem to match the industry standard...

The different is when someone makes their video it looks so real like they are in front of you which does not look interesting at all, while other music videos look different.

Except the camera is there some editing involved? or it is totally the cameras they use are doing the trick?

There will always be a different between independent an industry standard. In most cases indie producers don't have all the equipments, if they do, they might rent them; which mean they will not be perfect to use them. The major differences between industry standard and indie is the equipments they use and time spent. In industry standard you pretty much have all the time you need, you have a line up of editors who are overseeing the final products. I shot indie video recently, rented all the pro-equipments, using them, space, time was the problem. esp. if you're to stay within budget.
