I want to backup my DVD collection so I can watch the movies without pulling out the disc. I'm not too worried about size, but having 4 to 8 gigs per DVD on my computer is just too much. So, if I were to backup only the main movie, what format should I do it in? I want it to be as close to DVD quality as possible. I'm cool with 2 gig files or so.
I would lean toward doing it in DVIX or XVID, because my DVD player has a USB slot that can play those files off my thumb drive. My Creative Zen can also play these files, but not H.264. But I'm told H.264 is the future, and I do want my files to work in the future.
