Should i buy a Harley Sportster?

Great bike if you don't mind being owned by 250 Ninjas.

Harley is the king of the cruisers, but a pretty lousy bike for the dollar if you care about performance.
 
so i really want to get a bike soon, i probably will have to take out a loan, how does a 1997 sportster with 20,000 miles on it sound for 3,000?? he said it was very well taken care of and kept up with? any advice? thanks
 
If it's just an 883 I would look around a bit first. Those aren't very expensive, even for newer ones. I'm not saying its a ripoff but you can probably find a lower mile bike for about the same. If its your first bike that's a great choice. But shop around for others. Check your local craigslist.com there are a bunch of bikes added everyday.
