I'm a bisexual teen in my last year of High School. My family are quite religious (Christian) and wouldn't react well to finding out about my sexual preference. They look down on LGBT people and think that same sex relationships are disgusting. My parents push their way of thinking onto myself and my siblings, so that even my little brothers (ages 6 & 7) make fun of people for acting 'homo'. I'm really scared of coming out. I'm sure that I'd be either kicked out of home or that my parents would try to 'fix' me (with bible-therapy or something). But most of all, I'm afraid of upsetting my mother. She's homophobic, but I love her and we're really close. I know it would make her cry to find out, because she would think I'm damning myself to hell for eternity. Do I have to tell them that I'm bisexual? Do all LGBT people come out to their families? If I do need to come out, should I wait until I'm at university or have steady income? Thank you for your answer Krix. I just wanted to clarify that I'm completely certain that I'm not going through a phase. I've identified as bisexual for the past six years.
